vocodex is a freeware vocoder plugin written in SuperCollider and converted to an AU plugin (mac OS X) with SupercolliderAU made by Gerard Roma. I made this plugin, not because I'm into DSP programming, or I want to make some cash, but because I upgraded to a Macbook and none of the damn freeware vocoders are universal binary...so I made my own...
INSTALLATION:
1.Download VoCodeX for Intel Macs
Download VoCodeX for PPC
2. Mount the vocodex disk image and
HOW TO MAKE THE ROBOT SPEAK:
if saying that doesn't help you much...
here
is a tutorial for using a
vocoder in Live
Basically, you put the vocoder on one track and then make two other
tracks, one for the carrier and one for the modulator. Pan the carrier to
the left and pan the modulator to the right and send the output of both
tracks to the track that has the vocoder. Make sure you set the
monitoring of the track with the vocoder on it to In...and disable other
inputs to the track so you don't pick up any unwanted noise.
the plugin has 10 parameters right now (I'm working on adding more),
eventually I'd like the carrier signal to be a full synthesizer with LFOs
and filters...stay tuned
System Requirements:
OS X 10.4
An AU host program to
run the plugin (like Ableton Live or Logic or GarageBand)
Notes on using VoCodex:
drag the Vocodex file onto you
hard drive
into your
/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components directory. Make sure this is
the
Library direcory on your harddrive, not the Library directory in your Home
directory.3. Start your AU host software!
The plugin works like most other vocoder plugins...
